Just read three sentences of Finnegan’s Wake and then tossed the book in the bin

Please explain.
Finnegans Wake isn't a very difficult read. Supposedly recounts the dreams of a family as they shift into different characters while asleep.
I think this book was a love letter to Joyce's wife Norah. Each character and layer in the dream scape entombs Joyce's feelings for his wife.
