Would it be possible to break science by constantly asking "what do you mean by x?" , "what do you mean by y?", "define z"

Yes. You will get to the point where there is no right answer. Everything relies on intuition.

It would be possible to "break" anything like that. Hence picrel's refutation of that style of enquiry (I'm personally not entirely convinced he had it all right though).
Most sciences begin with "primitive notions" anyway. These are things you just accept exist for the sake of enquiry.
