19703293 No.19703293[DELETED]  [Reply] [Original]

Is there any validity to Buddhism and or Hinduism? I haven't read much into Hinduism but Buddhism to me seems to align perfectly with my worldview and ideas of happiness and fulfillment. It doesn't seem to make any big claims and aligns with the world unlike Christianity and Islam which deals with stuff like the problem of evil and the contradictions of having a single deity who is all seeing, all knowing, all powerful, all good. Also The Bible itself which is just a joke.

Buddhism modernism is hardly Buddhism per se. It is a product of rationalistic European ideas interacting with clever colonized peoples in Asia, who largely managed to fend off poor quality Christian missionaries from an increasingly faithless Europe, by being more European than the Europeans themselves. Thus Buddhism becomes scientific and modern, something Christianity couldn't do. But in practice it has scriptures and folklore and pantheons and all the rest. See David McMahan's book for the modernism, and the Digha Nikaya for Buddha having debates with God in heaven about how ignorant the latter is. Not very scientific of Buddha to literally argue with God rather than against the idea of God.

Experimental experiental ontology, delocalised consciousness, instantiated being, momentary ontological reincarnation within identity, nondualism, perceptibility, instantiation, time, being, identity, consciousness.

Why call Buddhism on the little shit like flying magic dogs, life after death as rebirth, or persistent morality. Call it on the big ontological stuff like perception demonstrably existing.

>> No.19703375

>>19703356
Well natural and supernatural are just categories of phenomena or experience. So in a sense, you have to deny the absolute reality of both if you want to be consistent, and the Mahayana schools of Buddhism indeed do this, because the real is free of all description. See the Lankavatara Sutra, for instance, which argues all phenomena are merely arisen in consciousness. But this also has a soteriological side, in that the mind can be purified by following the Buddhist path. So it is not merely a cold scientific calculus.

Fully sikh cunt.

A modern invented nationalism that's been very successful due to its in-group behaviour. It acts as a religion in public for funding and social respect, but is primarily a power network. You can see this because it hasn't split into a thousand different sects based on disagreements about major unprovable claims about external reality. Ie: it isn't a religion because it doesn't act like one.

Because traditionalismisticalist sedevacantist latin mass autocephalous catholicoi romanian orthodoxy is so far removed from daily life that it might as well not exist. The entire point of Christianity is to free you from the rules, this is just a more extreme variant where you openly admit that you get to make the rules up as you go and everyone other than you has to follow them.

Meanwhile, Buddists are constantly talking about doing stuff, like meditating and not jerking off and such, and that involves actual rules.
