What are the greatest crime/mystery novels of the period from the 90s to the early 2000s? Basically the time when technology was rapidly advancing and the world was "modern" but the internet as we know it now didn't exist, smartphones didn't exist, laptops were uncommon, VHS and CD were still relevant, etc. Especially looking for murder mysteries of that era.

I'm bumping too because I'm curious aswell, but I imagine any crime/mystery novels that take place today are either mostly police dramas where the protag turns to an expert that gives them what they need or give them some weak explanation for why it's not possible, or it doesn't involve much tech at all. (Smalltown/rural stuff.)

Happy to be proved wrong though.
