How important are the prefaces to reading George Bernard Shaw? I bought a copy of his complete plays, but they don't come with his prefaces.
Also, how come GBS is never mentioned on /lit/?

prefaces are not very important, you’ll understand everything reading the plays.
The only things that were written in the prefaces are that he’s very religious and that he donated everything at his death for a reform of the english language(that thanks to god never happened).

Btw i love Bernard Shaw, i’ve bought a very old edition of his plays just for the aesthetic and because they were sold for cheap but i’ve read everything in a week, they’re super comfy.

Thanks for your answer. I read Man and Superman and I loved it.
Is your edition from Odhams Press? That's the one I have.

my edition is picrel; there are 3 plays per book. I don’t know who printed them but i like them because are easy to carry around.
Man and superman was kino, my favorites are Candida(perfect to read before bed time) and Caesar and Cleopatra, i’m not in to history but the Caesar portrayed by Shawn was based af i like to think he was really like that lol

Pretty sure that if they had done that reform we wouldn't be writing in English right now.
