Any non-meme book about destined enemies?
I am talking about themes here, not motivational meme books.
Also not a fan of fantasy.

Real people don't make enemies, unless they're in a position of true power, then there is no destiny other than that it is the nature of power to have enemies.

Oh really? I never knew. Thanks for pointing out that little known fact.

Any book on the history of Scipio Africanus and Hannibal

>> No.19640959

>>19640924
Scipio was a punk ass bitch whose saving historical grace was that he came into the setting at the moment the Hannibal was pretty much gassed out. Put them in similar settings in equal terms and Hannibal breaks him.

Hannibal and the entire Roman world would be a better use of "destined enemies".

I have a Dutch translation I found at a flea market sitting on my shelf but haven’t read it yet.
The fact that it’s 1.2k pages is making me a bit hesitant to start it but I plan on reading it in 2022

Scipio was a genius that was ahead of not only Hannibal but the very age in which he lived. Hannibal only knew how to win battles. Scipio knew how to win wars.

Is Matahachi /ourguy/?
It was kind of funny how he kept saying he was going to get a real job, only to give up because he's a lazy fuckup.

I keep seeing Musashi recommended here.
Has anybody read Taiko? That whole era of warring states sounds very intriguing (to read about. I would hate to live through it)

Another excellent manga about samurai who really hate each other is Shigurui, which is based on a novel of the same name by Norio Nanjō. I have only been able to find it in Spanish, so unless you can speak the language this suggestion won't help. At least you can read the manga.

Also, the entire anime is on YouTube. If you like classic samurai movies you'll have fun here:

Content wise it's pretty easy to handle. The pacing is off in a lot of points due to the nature of novels that were originally written in a serialized format
Pretty neat seeing the differences between novel and manga. Kojiro is an entirely different character
