I've never read a Lovecraft story in my life. Where should I start?

I'd prefer not to get off my fat ass so I think I'll start online.

Call of Cthulhu is obviously pretty great, but The Music of Erich Zann is one of my favorites, and extremely short. Should give you a feel for whether or not lovecraft is your thing.

The correct answer is The Shadow over Innsmouth. Enjoy, OP.

The Rats in the Walls, The Dunwich Horror, and The Rats in the Walls were the first that I read

Call of Cthulu is the most overated of all Lovecraft's stories. The Lurking Fear and The Colour out of Space are my personal favourites and I would advise that you begin with these. Good luck and enjoy!

huh, meant to say The Music of Erich Zann. though I did read The Rats in the Walls twice.

It's overrated because it's very good.

Colour Out of Space is good too. One of the few Lovecraft stories that's still genuinely creepy, rather than just being damn good.
