19610206 No.19610206 [Reply] [Original]

Ever since I read the Bible, I can't take arts, philosophy or science seriously anymore. I always had a nagging feeling that there was something lacking in them and I realized that the fullness I was longing for could only ever be achieved by beatific vision. I no longer search for excellence or try to find an "answer" in any of these categories, because I know that any excellence will always fall short of the full thing and that no answer is to be had in any of them.

Sometimes, I get the urge to write short, humble hymns for God, but then I shudder at the thought that even these words would be less than ideal. Nevertheless, it amuses me greatly that their simplicity is so very far removed from the false grandiosity of significant art, from abstruse metaphysical speculations and from the clenching rigidity of scientific method. What a great thing it is to wake up and worship God in the morning, with very little worry for the dynamics of the world. Such a simple prayer pierces the clouds like an arrow and goes out into the universe even among the shrieks of those who cannot bear light and the whole maze of darkness evaporates as quickly as morning dew under the rising sun to reveal a world refreshed and anew. Glory to God, my friends.

There's a meeting point between religion and science, but it's not for midwits so naturally it gets dismissed.

ART EMBODIES FAITH VIA REPRESENTATION & RECREATION; PHILOSOPHY EXPLAINS FAITH VIA COGITATION; SCIENCE VERIFIES FAITH VIA DISCERNMENT; THE AMBITS OF HUMAN ACTIVITY ARE MUTUALLY COMPLEMENTARY, NOT MUTUALLY EXCLUSIVE, FOR THE BETTER, AND FOR THE WORSE.

YOUR DAZZLEMENT BY FAITH, ALTHOUGH FREQUENT AMONGST «NEW CHRISTIANS», OR RECHRISTIANIZED LAPSED CHRISTIANS, IS ABERRANT, AND, IF NOT CORRECTED, CAN MISLEAD TO PIETISTIC HERESY.

Life embodies faith not art. Art is not an embodiment in the first place.

I guess this is why your slavish ancestors in the faith smashed and mutilated all the statues they were incapable of carving and razed all temples they lacked the skill to erect.

Far be it from me to suggest an exclusivity of human activity fellow friend. To the opposite, only activities as complementary, embodied in the whole, that is in Life itself in Christ is true complementarity and vision even possible. I am precisely rejecting the exclusivity of these endeavours, which in themselves and for themselves, fall short of fullness.

The stench of a Nietzschean is as immediately obvious as a pimple-faced youth who skipped morning shower entering the class. Everyone but himself is aware of the fact that he, in fact, stinks.

>Life embodies faith...

MEANINGLESS PLATITUDE.

>Art is not an embodiment in the first place.

«TO EMBODY»: TO GIVE TANGIBLE SHAPE; TO GIVE BODY; TO FORM.

ART, IN SERVICE OF FAITH, TANGIBILIZES THE OBJECT OF FAITH AS SYMBOLIC REPRESENTATION CONDUCIVE TO FAITH.

Based and Tolstoy-pilled.

But you should keep in mind that this isn't the most truthful state of culture, and you should learn to both hold your unique sense of Christianity and appreciate and develop your understanding greater history and culture at large.

>MEANINGLESS PLATITUDE.

If you can't grasp the meaning of "Life embodies faith" then maybe Christianity is not for you because I doubt you'd be able to grasp the Gospel either

This is so pointless. It's too sincere to be funny, and satirical only when you begin to remember that you are posting on 4chan and require an exit.

I mean I get it anon, I also have a bloated ego and more important things to do which I am at this moment neglecting.

But my time wasting quest for (you)s is expunged when the thread dies, and I slip back like any decent anon into nameless obscurity.

You know who you are better than I, and know how they think of you who call you by your mother's name. Go be that person.

I have to say I agree with the latinist. Life embodies faith doesn't make sense to me. You mean we live out our faith? Yeah I agree with that. But that is a platitude, because if you have no faith your life doesn't change.
