Okay, so we decide to start allowing Wagner's librettos as well as other composers', a little time passes and anons start posting about Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan, then Warren Zevon and Paul Simon and Joanna Newsom and Phil Elverum and next thing you know there's k-pop threads and /lit/ is transformed into /mu/ 2.

Wagner didn't write librettos but poems, and they have been enormously influential on later writers and thinkers. The whole point is that the words are equal to the music and valuable on their own, unlike opera libretti.
