Any recommendations for books based in research and discussion of psychology? I am studying psychology both as a hobby and in the future a profession and would love to see what /lit/ has for me. And please... nothing pseudo or Freud

some of the basic suggestions:

>Vygotskij: thought and language(find a good non censored version)
>William James: the principles of psychology
>Brenner: elementary textbook of psychoanalysis (if you don’t want to read Freud or Jung this explains the basic concepts that you must know)
>Ulric Neisser: cognition and reality
>kohler: gestalt psychology
>James Gibson: The Ecological Approach to Visual Perception
>Bowlby: attachment

I also suggest you to read an history of psychology book that cover from the greeks to cognitivism if you haven’t done it yet(can’t suggest you one because the 2 i have are not translated in english).
By the way what topics interest you?

Understanding behavioral genetics is imperative. Any psychology that doesn't take genetics into account is pseudoscience.

If your interested in intelligence research, Warne's book is a decent introduction.

Also read through the DSM, it's pretty fun.

not op but forty studies seems kino, it remind me of the 20 experiments that changed our view of the world by Rom Harre.
Too bad that enjoying reading the DSM make you a total faggot like op
