Backpack, has a cozy cushy inner pocket where I keep my book, notebook and pencase. In the big pocket i keep water, a folded umbrella and maybe a nutbar. In the front a mask and hand santizer.

I legit use a paper bag. It then goes in my backpack though, the bag is just to prevent the cover and pages from getting damaged. It works better than you would think.

I just toss the book into my panniers, they have a nice pouch which is perfect for books under 300 pages, larger books go on top under the hood, the really big books do just fine in the main compartment.
