Does /lit have any solid thriller novel recommendations that are enthralling, gripping and suspenseful? looking for some books for christmas

nothing supernatural, horror or gay.

Frederick Forsyth's earlier stuff (Day of the Jackal, Odessa File, Fourth Protocol)

Red Dragon & Silence of the Lambs (Thomas Harris) are better than the films. Of course you'll probably know the plots already from the films, which might be a dealbreaker.
