Most professors don't make that much. In the US tenured professors seem to do ok but non-tenured ones are all wagies who sometimes have to hold multiple jobs to keep afloat. What uni do you go to? 200K seems way too much.

Department heads do pretty well. The bad thing about becoming a professor is that tenure is nearly impossible to get and that's the only way to somewhat make it. In my shithole of a country if you don't have tenure you barely make more than minimim wage.
