I’ve never read any interviews from her, but it becomes self evident that the perspective of the character narrating the story is skewed when she reports things being one way that are later revealed to not be the case based on the reports of other characters, or further inspection. As the novel goes on and she slips deeper and deeper into madness she begins having hallucinations. This proves that we as an audience can’t trust that things are going exactly as she’s describing them, and this idea that we have these two separate worlds of reality and then reality as interpreted by Celeste would also suggest strongly that the author does not agree with her point of view as objective or correct
