Did you read front to back or skip back and forth between the poem/commentary? (I'm assuming a lot of people who went front to back revisited segments of the poem as they were reading the commentary--this counts as front to back).

foreword commentary poem commentary foreword poem commentary. This is the correct order.

>> No.19580290

this book utterly filtered me, I don't want to keep moving back and forth to understand it

So far I've only read it front to back, occasionally rereading bits of the poem as I go through the commentary.
But I want to try following the references from note to note. There's a paper on JSTOR that compares them to warp pipes in Super Mario.

So front to back I guess, thoroughly enjoyed it.

Front to back is the way to go.

God I love Nabokov's oeuvre so much

Back/forth seems analytical whereas front to back and occasionally going back to the poem seems more enjoyable. Maybe back/forth for a reread.

I gave this book to an escort with her hourly fee inside. She invited me for coffee a month later but I didn’t enjoy her vagina enough to see her again.

I can't tell whether this is based or cringe.

Based because he admitted to paying for it; cringe because he's one of those guys who think the strippers actually like him.

front to back like a normal book. any other answer is retarded.

>> No.19583379

I vaguely recall that the poem was divided into sections, and I would read one section of the poem, then the commentary on that section, then the next poem section, etc.
I need to read it again because I've been through much more Nabokov now and the first time I never realized that the index was another layer of hidden detail.

Uhhh, they did like me.

I'm 6'4", lift 1.5/2.3/3.5/4.7, have a sculpted body, and a (middling but passable) 6.7 inch dick.

I skipped the foreword and endnotes and just read the poem. I'm not some kind of pretentious ass who needs to read the notes to understand how to appreciate mediocre verse.

I never pay for the emotional services. I’m just using their body to fulfill my animal needs. I’m also not the other poster describing my physical appearance. Honestly it feels like going back and forth between dr jekyll & mr hyde
