[copypasta italy24news]
>The new novel by Michel Houellebecq will be released simultaneously with Flammarion in France, from 7 January 2022. To say it is Elisabetta Sgarbi, dondatrice ed editore de The ship of Theseus, the publishing house that publishes the French author in Italy.

>“We will go out simultaneously with France” wrote Sgarbi on her Facebook profile, “with this new novel of which Michel Houellebecq oversaw every aspect of the edition. With the French publisher La nave di Teseo he will share the printer (Italian), the binding, the type of paper.

>In short, in this case Michel, in addition to having given us a new pearl, a new disruptive and vertical work, has also become in some way its own publisher. “

>Michel Houellebecq, new book
For the moment we know only its number of pages (736) but not the title nor the subject: the publisher Flammarion has announced the publication of the new novel by Michel Houellebecq, which will arrive in French bookstores on January 7, 2022 and simultaneously in Italian ones for the types of La nave di Theseo.

>“This new novel will be released in a hardcover edition, with a hardcover cover and a colored bookmark“, specified Flammarion, who will then print anfinest edition than usual for the acclaimed and controversial Houellebecq.

>On the mysterious novel, the Minister of Economy, Bruno Le Maire, made an unusual nod during the meeting of the industrialists in Paris at the end of October, declaring that he knew one of the themes of this book, declaring that he was “very attached to a writer. that you all know. I don’t want to make big revelations – added Le Maire – But I think that the next book by Michel Houellebecq will defend the industry “.

I have a feeling it’s gonna be great. It’s not in his character to write 700 pages, he either was working on this for a while or had it in mind for a long time and finally began it now. I cant see him writing 700 pages unless he really feels comfortable with it

My cousin is a high school AP Lit teacher and is thinking of assigning The Elementary Particles to his class, along with The Dwarf and Heart of Darkness.

Thoughts? Would you have enjoyed Particles in HS?

All 3? That’s way too dark, he needs to chill. Elementary Particles would definitely get people involved. Not sure if I support idiots reading it though. It’ll just cause problems for him when the girls in the class get pissed over it

Agree. The length will place it outside the mainstream format.
It is one way to break out of the confines of the conventional novel.
I am picking up hints that there is something special / deluxe about the edition.
This separates it from eBook format too.
MH is also a photographer.
His book Lanzarote was a "photo-novel" with his own photographs of the place.

As a teacher myself, I can tell you that a book like The Elementary Particles is too "adult." Yeah, it's cool to give the kids more mature stuff from time to time, but they just won't get TEP in the way that it was meant to be understood. They simply don't have the life experience yet. Better to assign that kind of reading material to uni students.
