I want to build up a reading habit but have a compulsive addiction to browse garbage online
Therefore I want to go cold turkey on my internet usage and substitute it with reading more
What are some good very short and decent books with which I could start?

bit reading in where there already exists a habit. you're only setting yourself up for failure to try and cut out one habit cold turkey and establish another

habit formation tip: do something after a cue, without fail, for at least 14 days and you will have established a habit. after 20 days or so your habit should stick if the cue routine is followed.

It's like a muscle, you have to build your attention span the same way you build strength. A good rule of thumb is, if you don't want to do something, you should probably do it. For example, if you feel lazy and don't want to open that book or don't want to turn off youtube, it's a good sign that you should do exactly that. Your brain will come up with 200 excuses and justifications, but just follow that rule that if you don't want to do it, it's very likely to be exactly what you should do.
