19544752 No.19544752 [Reply] [Original]

I have certain opinions and beliefs on different things, I want to read about them, and the ones that challenge them, in depth. But I don't know which school of thought they belong to. Is there some way I can find out, like an encyclopaedia or some kind of a spider map?

Yeah, you're right OP, those things exist.

Where?

I was thinking of something more precise, condensed and can be found at a single location.

Ok, just google then.
Use search syntax if you're autistic. Searx if you're mega autistic.

Political Ideologies and the Democratic Ideal by Terence Ball and Richard Dagger is relevant comprehensive enough.

Literally just look up "encyclopedia of philosophy" and you'll find several.
The best is the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy but Wikipedia is almost always just as good for most topics.

the problem is youre asking for the impossible, your knowledge is fragmented, and going to be language tempered. a map will only give general overviews, so it would be hard to find any map that lays things out as general or as broad as would be necessary for you to read it adequately and recognize it as something you know or believe. i think the lads who have posted so far are correct
>you should learn the skill of resource gathering

you should first determine the nature of the things you wish to know more about, and then go from there. build a tree of categories as best you can and then get used to reading entire wikipedia articles or something similar (https://www.britannica.com/ also biased)(i recommend finding older versions is you use this resource)

start here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_academic_fields if you know the nature of what you want to know more about, this is the best start. read the ENTIRE articles. loading it in desktop (or just being a real human and using a computer) you'll see that their are "portals" (or "part of a series on") to things that might be worth reading in the sidebars

please keep in mind wikipedia is incredibly biased, this just gives you a better way of knowing what you need to know to learn more

There are also a lot of histories of Western philosophy written that cover more or less everything.
