The only thing I've ever written is about ten medium sized books worth of Start Trek fanfiction.

Dude that's more than most people here have written. Have you ever put them out there?

No, I'm too scared to do that.

Start Trek? Damn when does this End Trek?

>> No.19518523

Why? Are you afraid that people will tear it down? Maybe publish it under a pseudonym and don't worry because it's just fanfiction, people won't expect S tier writing going in and they may be pleasantly surprised if it's decent.

It's not that. I'm paranoid that somebody I know might read it and recognize me anyway.

Why not change the names and tweak the setting a little bit, and publish it as your own sci-fi series?

Probably not the most congenial example, but 50 Shades of Grey is literally Twilight fanfiction. It's an example of how it's possible to do this without violating copyright law.

I thought of that before, but I like the fact that it's about Star Trek specifically.

I keep re-reading them too, more often than I read any other books at this point. I'm also in the process of writing another one right now.

Please help me.

I don't know what to tell you. It sounds like you're too loyal to this setting to recognise how much of your own writing is really your own, and that you have as much right as anyone to name your own creations.

Try taking a section of your work and changing the appearances of the characters, or even the description of the ship. See where that takes you.

I don't think you understand. It has been going on for years now. All I can think about at this point is my stories and Star Trek.

I probably would cry if I had to do this, anon. But thank you for your suggestions nonetheless.

So write more. Write a star trek novel and publish. Write and write until you can't write anymore.

>> No.19518983

Same, but shorter and Eva instead of Star Trek

I do the same for mass effect but I did change all the names and teak the plot slightly
but I have only 1/4 of a novels worth and I stopped awhile ago
If I continue it I would tweak the writing so the reader cant tell if its sci fi or magical realism, its already ambiguous though

I feel this. I'm basically in the same situation, except it's with Pokemon and I don't have the drive or endurance to actually sit down and write down any of the stuff I want to write

I've been trying to practice drawing for three years now, hoping that eventually I'll be able to illustrate some scenes I like the most. But I keep getting distracted by my stories and just end up writing more.

Share non. Are they the diaries of a Bajoran love slave aboard Terok Nor? Are they your OC captain's journals? Cmon now.

>> No.19519555

I have an OC captain, yes. He narrates two of the stories and plays a large part in another one, which involves a fake reality of sorts. That one is my favorite, I put the most effort into it by far. Otherwise most of them are just standalones with both, original and already existing in-verse cast. I'm trying to write something more high concept now about time travel and it is quite challenging. Getting time travel right feels almost impossible, but I'll try. There is some subtle love affairs in there that involve a Bajoran, she's definitely not a love slave though. I usually try and stay away from romance mostly, I feel like if I start writing it, I'll just overindulge.
