I finished Shadow and Claw this year. I’m impressed with them but I feel longing for more. I plan on doing a close reading of this again soon while paying close attention to the symbols and Severian’s narration this time.

I've read the first half twice all the way through and picked around at it a couple times after that. The second half was amazing but trust me nothing beats the first two books.

Unless you've read spoilers about the next 2 books, I'll say this much about it- whatever you think is going to happen is certainly not going to happen in the ways you think they will.
