Let's be real here. You read books because you like the idea of reading books, not because actually want to read books.

I don't think I enjoy reading books, but finishing a book and reminiscing on your favorite parts is insanely rewarding. Like "damn that was a really cool part" or "damn that was such an interesting character/idea"

Yes, but I don't like watching TV i don't like playing vidya anymore.
What else do I even have to do?
Its better i force myself to read as it keeps my brain from sinking into bad places.
Not like I have anyone to show off my reading too either.

Hold up, let me undersyand you: so you mean I like the ideas that could be expressed in any given book, and the idea of having personal insight into, while being illuminated by, these ideas and images? Yet, according to you, I have no especial love for the holding open of a bound compendium of folded paper while my eyes pass over various combinations of regularly shaped ink spots? Fair enough.

I would (and do) prefer audiobooks or even audiocourses on the books if they're extensive enough. I just can't settle for youtube videos or wiki summaries.

I'd even take not having questions in the first place, since in my search for answers I just find out that not only did I have the wrong questions to begin with, but the new questions don't have answers either and that's even worse.

Tbh, I think this is selling point on most thing/hobbies. Ego is usually involved, especially when you are young, and until you untangle needing cred (how a 1st world consumer does that I don't know) and enjoy the thing on its merits.

Would you do the thing if no one on earth was left alive to impress? Id still read. Thats why I baka at stack threads. Its usually just a psude larp or a chance to mock a psude larp to feel better about our psude larp.

Uh, no. I don't read books, I just buy them, display them on my shelf, read wikipedia summaries and a single scholarly take, take photographs of them with #DarkAcademia, and then post the scholarly take alongside with it in order to attract art-hoes.

Been doing it for 5 years or so now, and it has yet to work.

I read because I like when my brain goes bzzzz and I feel I learned something. That's why I can't into fantasy. Tried Neuromancer earlier this year and it felt like a waste of time. Brothers Karamazov, on the other hand, made me think about Christianity in a different way. I guess the concepts in Neuromancer are too stablish in society to have an impact, but my point stands.
