Are visual novels literature?

Japanese YA (JYA) is stereotyped to the point where it's almost procedurally generated. JYA characters are the NFTs of art.

No, the only good part of vns is that sex scenes have visuals and are voiced.

No, they are videogames. I really want to replay Steins;Gate.
Play "40 Days and 40 Nights of Rain" and "Kodoku ni Kiku Yuri", they are short but pretty good.

>> No.19472914

Anything where something is mainly conveyed through written word is literature
I don't really read them but VNs are still conveyed mostly through written word so they count

How is classic literature better than vns and other contemporary art forms? No meme answers just genuinely want to know what's so good about them

What part filtered you? I almost dropped it 3 times, but was pissed about spending my money on it so forced myself through. It's now one of my all time favorites. It can be a drag at times, but the complete package is something genuinely rewarding. Make sure to read End Sky 2

No. Manga, VNs, LNs are clearly against the rules of this board. There are multiple dedicated boards to the mediums. /a/, /vg/, /jp/.

Yes, but being literature doesn't mean they're good.
They're a low-art, commercialized literature, serving the same function in comparison to novels and essays that reality TV does to cinema.

Yes but VNs are a dead medium except for moeshit and porn. Writers like ska j and nasu either moved to gachas or don't exist anymore. Quite sad really

I was an incel before it was a thing. Absolutely autistic when it came to women/relationships/social life, I thought it was all bullshit. Then I read KS and it made me feel things I never felt before. I saw what is casual, basic level attraction, social interactions etc. I got really engrossed into the vn. It was my "so this is how normal people live" experience.

I was deeply into Dosty at that point, so until I read KS I viewed all interactions through some cold, objective lens. Actually, it makes me grin now, realizing I read Karamazov Bros and KS at the same time.
