even the writers of the Bible know God is a more dynamic and interesting character when he's erotic rather than agapic -- hence why they constantly depict him as jealous, possessive, etc.

Start with https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_History_of_Philosophy_(Copleston)#Volume_1:_Greece_and_Rome

But they, our ancestors, became arrogant and stiff-necked, and they did not obey your commands. They refused to listen and failed to remember the miracles you performed among them. They became stiff-necked and in their rebellion appointed a leader in order to return to their slavery. But you are a forgiving God, gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love. Therefore you did not desert them,
Nehemiah 9:16-17

You shall not hate in your heart anyone of your kin; you shall reprove your neighbor, or you will incur guilt yourself. You shall not take vengeance or bear a grudge against any of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the Lord.
Leviticus 19:17-18

Love ye therefore the stranger: for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.
Deuteronomy 10:19

Hebrew love is אהבה which is an action/act of being.

Currently reading Plato's collected works. The Socratic dialogues are incredible, but I must say that if I had "started" with them, I would not have been able to appreciate their brilliance.
Also Socrates is funny.
