I bought "The Black Company" for a penny on Amazon. I was expecting something like what the OP described but instead the book is immaculate. It looks like it was never read.

I love it when that works out okay. I've purchased a few books for less than a dollar (minus the damn shipping, ofc) and one for an actual penny as well. It feels good. I also never go below 'very good' quality if I can help it because of things like OP's story.

Yesterday I got my copy of Outlaws of the Marsh that I'd ordered from Amazon and started reading on it. and that was good.

I can't complain. $4 is what it would be at my local Half Price Books. Sadly, they didn't have a copy. Good book by the way.

>> No.1946642

I went to the library to return some books. The one book I hadn't finished yet I wanted to read or extend if I couldn't finish it in time. So I sat down to read until I got too bothered by a library employee who was talking loudly on her mobile phone. I returned the book and went home.

Fuck that library.

I usually get Very Good, but the Good copy specifically stated there was no writing. I don't usually care about worn bindings and things like that.

I HATE THAT SHIT.

For years I wouldn't order from third party sellers on Amazon because I had several instances of people outright lying to me about the quality of their books. I started buying them again, and I've had much better luck lately.

>> No.1948003

This is exactly why I buy books on Abebooks and not Amazon.
