Can you "jailbreak" a Kindle Paperwhite?
I want all the features of collections and customization without having Bezos up my ass

Pirating books onto a Kindle is braindead; as easy to do as any other e-reader
That said I still wouldn't rec a Kindle over other e-reader options unless it's your only choice.

Too late for that rec
I already have all the books I want on my Paperwhite through Calibre and staying airport mode
What I want now though are the features that are locked unless I register

What features are locked by not registering?

Collections is the biggest thing for me since I'd like to organize my books more neatly by topic (philosophy, fiction, textbooks, etc)
There's also a few visual options that are unavailable though I can live without those
I can read comfortably on it no problem but knowing I can't utilize the collections feature irritates that part of me that craves order

Just use Calibre eReader program for PC.

Drag n drop your books on it.

Might have to convert books to mobi or azw3 using the program.

Sync it to the Kindle.

yeah, jailbroke mine. probably depends on what version you have but i had a recent version when i jailbroke it about a year ago. i do recommend jailbreaking so you don't have to convert and run into possible (if rare) conversion issues. also i prefer the pdf experience on koreader than stock kindle. also makes it easier to transfer shit wirelessly through calibre connect and ssh when the calibre content server wont cut it.
to jailbreak it, go check mobileread.

I got an older Sony e-reader with buttons and touchscreen, refurbished with a brand new battery.
Cost me 30$, I've read about 10 books on it already over 2 months and it still doesn't need charging lol.
Plug it in the PC with USB cable and transfer the ebooks. Any more hassle with an e-reader is not worth it.

Oh, I was wondering what the collections tab was meant to do. Is it usually supposed to work only if one buys directly from the kindlestore or something?

Just get a kobo bro

install KOreader

Why would I read books if people can’t see that I’m reading them. Isn’t that the point? So they the cover and know that I’m smart?

>> No.19450546

>>19448611
I don't think it's possible anymore. Just use Calibre to convert the ebooks to azw3 and then send them to your Kindle
