Anything by Aristotle
Anything by Marx
Ethics by Spinoza
Any Gogol-core novel including e.g. Dostoevsky, Tolstoy, etc. In fact, I’d guess that there are very few if any great novels written by misanthropes because novels are about human beings and misanthropy generally gets in the way of the development of a deep or nuanced understanding of human beings.
Can anyone name any truly great misanthropic writers or philosophers? Maybe Schopenhauer. Houellebecq is a misanthrope, but he is not great.
