Pipe is much healthier and less addictive. The tobacco is pure without all the toxic additives, fiberglass bits from the filter, etc, etc that give you lung cancer. It's also much more pleasant and more relaxing, and has been shown to actually extend your lifespan. Pic related.

>what's the difference between smoking pipe and smoking cigarettes?
Pipe tobacco is usually significantly higher in quality.
Cigarettes are usually made from scrap tobacco and tobacco dust left over from making cigars and other tobacco products.
Cigarettes also routinely contain additives, as does the rolling paper, and the filters on cigarettes may actually be more harmful than the shit tobacco inside.

You could roll cigarettes using natural pipe tobacco and it would be safer than commercial cigarettes, but inhaling into your lungs (instead of your mouth) is still much worse for you.

Presbyterian Mixture is based, but man Early Morning Pipe is by far my favorite English blend. There’s just something about it I love.

I'm going to buy a corncob pipe tomorrow. Buying Captain Black original because of /out/. What other tobaccos are good for a noob? I'm familiar with cigars and like the spicier/stronger tobaccos.

>> No.19445903

>>19445812
Captain Black is terrible tobacco. Flavorless scrap burley loaded with sugar, and it makes a sticky mess of your pipe.

I smoke cigars too. Most pipe tobacco isn't as full bodied but you should try at least one example of the most popular mixtures to see what does it for you:

Straight Virginia: Reiner Long Golden Flake, Sam Gawith Full Virginia Flake, Peterson (Dunhill) Flake, Orlik Golden Sliced

Drugstore Burley (Old Codger Blends): Prince Albert, Carter Hall, Half and Half

Virginia/Perique: Escudo, Stokkebye Luxury Bullseye Flake, Rattray Marlin Flake

Balkan: GL Pease Abingdon or Westminster, Hearth & Home Black Knight or White Knight

Aromatic: Sam Gawith 1792 Flake, Gawith Hoggarth Bob's Chocolate Flake, GL Pease Virginia Cream

There are lots of other styles and flavoured tobaccos out there , but if you try one of each of these categories you'll have a good idea of what's out there.

Yeah, honestly I hate when people bring this study up because it’s outdated and makes pipe smokers look like they’re coping.
At the end of the day, there’s not much data solely on pipe/cigar smoking. What we know for sure is it’s not as bad as cigarettes, but worse than if you didn’t smoke at all. At the end of the day you just have to decide if the risks outweigh the benefits for you and do whatever you want in moderation.

I sort of hate pipe fags, but you guys got me to order some tobacco for the first time in a few years.
C&D Byzantium, Escudo and some Black Cavendish to round things out.

I will fix the lack of brier in this thread while I am at it. Just about to start The Blind Owl.
