One of his main points is that technology which initially appears as a beneficial option frequently becomes a dependency for participation in society. He's aware he's a weirdo and doesn't advocate the hermit life for everyone. (Not that his revolution larp is any more practical, though.)

This pretty much sums it up. He makes a lot of good points but knew he was a bit of a loon himself. As for the computers he actually wrote that he didnt mind technology being used to communicate for strategic purposes. He wanted his manifesto read on TV in the 80s

Anyone write to Ted? I want to pick his brain on what the internet has become since his time. I feel there's a whole new manifesto ready to be written on what the internet has done to us, how it has ensnared us, how it has become a micro industrial revolution to the sanctity we once had before it.

I rarely see anyone disagree that the problems he points out exist because of the conditions he outlines. No one likes the solution because it means giving up all our cool shit or some kind of /pol solution.

Yes I saw a thread here, I think it was. He got letters from neets and was mostly annoyed by the terrible grammar. Told them to read and learn how to write.

I've seen zoomers who are on the Ted K thing say computers and vidya are terrible for your health and well being. But not enough to give them up now. Too late of course. No, the only way it would've worked is we never invented them. So the promoted ideal lifestyle is conveniently rendered impossible to follow, and you can still keep on indulging in these bad things while simultaneously complaining about them.

Has he come around to think that way over the years? It seems like he raised some good points but had a rather simplistic solution to a complex problem. Throw the baby out with the bathwater.

I wouldn't have known about Ted K without the internet

Btw in the letters Ted wrote to some anon on here, he said 1 hour of computer use per day is fine for educational purposes. And like the other anon said in his manifesto he wrote sharing anti-tech ideas through digital media is a good thing. It is indeed ironic, but not everyone has the means to live a hermit life

He's way too old to understand all the dynamics of the new internet now. Just leave him in peace and let him die not having to be made aware of how much of a complete hell the internet and modern technology as a whole have become.
