For those of you familiar with Beethoven's biography, what do you make of Beethoven's relationship with his nephew?
Beethoven's guardianship over his nephew drove the poor boy to attempt suicide by shooting himself in the head.

Something is rotten the state of....Austria.
(I think he was molesting the boy)

I'd shoot myself too if my last name was Beethoven.

I haven't read his autobiography, but it's possible the kid was getting buggered. Also possible was that he lived with a megalomaniac.

>> No.1939287

the relationship is explained in Amadeus

>> No.1939290

I've never read anything that would lead me to believe the boy was touched in his naughty areas. It never even crossed my mind, till you mentioned it.

Maybe he read The Sorrows of Young Werther.

Or likely Schopenhauer. There were suicide clubs dedicated to him--> http://query.nytimes.com/gst/abstract.html?res=F50D15F73C5A15738DDDAF0894DE405B898CF1D3
