Start with "Up from Slavery " by Booker T., then move on to "Souls of Black folks" by Dubois.

From there, you can take the Black Nationalism route: Garvey and then Malcolm X. Or you can go the Black Existential route: James Baldwin and Ralph Ellison.

You can finish with Sowell and Cornell West.
