His true paranoiac masterpieces are his later short stories, get the collections.

Doctor Bloodmoney is an underappreciated post apocalyptic masterpiece.

The three stigmata... has his eeriest future predictions, it pretty accurately describes mmorpgs and people making money creating 3d assets for them. Its like he looked into the future through a smudged looking glass.

He was convinced he was a precog, and I am not entirely unconvinced he was not.

always heard about k dick. every now or then I see some stuff he wrote being discussed on movies or plays, and I liked scanner darkly very much
so I as the first book to read, I took "do androids..." early this week and finished it about 3 days ago, despite wanting to read flow my tears more than anything

damn bros, I don't know if I liked it :( it seemed rush and... I don't know... superficial. I knew it wouldn't be so philosophical, but still... I give it like 2/5

this is one of his worst ones right :l I was looking forward to read flow my tears or ubik, now I don't know

Its a weird book, you Probably got filtered a bit though. With Dick it's generally preferable to start with his short stories. Read like the 20-30 ones considered best then if you like them go to books like flow my tears, a scanner darkly, the three stigmata of palmer eldridge, Dr Bloodmoney... If the short stories do nothing for you try valis.

I love A Scanner Darkly, harrowing and funny, brilliant use of the medium to translate confusion and paranoia from the character to the reader.
His short stories rock. We Can Remember It for You Wholesale is a great one. One I appreciate a lot is called the Piper in the Woods. Something very funny about it, in its strange simplicity.
I haven't read Flow My Tears, though.

I've never personally related to any supposed novel as much as I did to Valis. Luminescent three-letter agency Congoids HATE him, find out why.

Martian Time Slip is underrated.

Which are the best titles of collections in particular? I really loved VALIS (as much as you can love something that fucks with your head) and even dipped into Exegesis

Had a class in Uni where we read all his short stories and a few novels. Couldn't stand him. Every plot was "God is an alien" "God hates us" or "God is an alien who hates us"

There was that one short story about the guy who evades death by arranging his salary to be some bits of trash, I liked that one.

>> No.19385518

I just read "A Maze Of Death", it was good not great. It's hard to find his books in stores, they must get scooped up like immediately

Personally the best collection for me was Beyond Lies the Wub, followed by the Impossible planet 1 & 2, however editions might vary per country
In general, you can't really go wrong with any of the PKDick collections
