Bump. I would also be interested how to do that from the practical standpoint.

What? How can a book be 'about' going into the desert? Does the book take you into the desert? Does the book itself go into the desert? Clearly not. What would it even mean for a book to be 'about' going into the desert? You will be reading 'about' the desert; will you be there? Will you be in the desert? No, you will be reading a book. You will know more about reading a book than you will about the desert, no matter how much the book is 'about' the desert. How can anything, least of all a book, be 'about going' if nothing goes, hmm? With a book, there is precisely nothing going, no one going anywhere. The only place you 'go' is in your mind. How could you even write about 'going into' anywhere? How are you supposed to present this? You can't. No author ever brought you the desert in a book. With a book, one does not go, but just stays in, with some hot coffee or tea. So how can a book be 'about going'? The book does not even take you near a desert, it does not even let you approach one. Moreover, if you were actually in the desert, the last thing you would want to read would be a book 'about going into' the desert. So if you wanted to get closer to being in the desert, you should read something which one might read in the desert, which would certainly not be something about deserts. If you were actually in a desert, someone like you would be asking to read something 'about going into' the city, or a forest. So you see that reading about deserts is just the sort of thing a person does who is not in the desert, and hence you are giving your the experience of being anywhere BUT the desert. You are really driving yourself farther from what you are reading about 'going into'. So you will know even less 'about going into' the desert than when you started. Somehow you are bent upon impoverishing yourself. In fact I believe you wish, in spite of yourself, to go more deeply into where you currently are, and you mean to accomplish this by reading about where you are not.
