Most people seem to think that the Metamorphosis is an allegory for a traumatic event such as caring for a sick family member. But I am of the opinion that the book is a more general commentary on multiple themes, especially those of familial obligation, the culture of modern labor and social isolation. What do you think?

It is a feminist and Marxist book. The two important characters are Grete and Gregor

I kinda agree with you. My interpretation of this book is different from most interpretations I've seen.

Kafka is mythopoetic. To box a story like the Metamorphosis into a single allegorical interpretation is to fit his genius into a Procrustean bed IMO. Is it about illness, work, religion, anomie or psychology? Yes.

I truly don't understand why /lit/ rates The Trial higher than The Metamorphosis

It's about Jewish integration anxiety. This is not necessarily an anti-Semitic interpretation.

It has more Kafkaesque themes if anything

I'm aware that Kafka was a Hebrewaboo but I'm curious to know how you drew that conclusion
