What's the difference between Absurdism, Existentialism and Nihilism?

>> No.19365098

>>19365097
They're all the same

Just different words for the same cope

>> No.19365105

>>19365098
Why didn't use just a single word? Assuming most of them were from the same period and language.

>Absurdism
Life has no meaning, and that's OK
>Existentialism
Life has no meaning, so you should make your own
>Nihilism
Life has no meaning, and that sucks

You don't know what you are talking about. Leave this board forever. We don't want you here.

Thanks for simplifying.
>Life has no meaning, and that sucks
What would Pessimism be then?

>> No.19365114

>>19365106
no

More like
Nihilism
>Life has no meaning!
Existentialism
>Life has no meaning but I have to satisfy my urgent need for meaning so I must make my own!
Absurdism
>Life still has no meaning if you make your own. You will not be satisfied with meaning, accept the process is absurd and continue it anyway!

>What would Pessimism be then?
Suffering is the core aspect of living

Nihilism is a non-retarded form of Absurdism, which is a slightly less retarded form of Existentialism. Note that Christian Existentialism gets a pass.

Absurdism and existentialism are both attempts to respond to nihilism. They are both against it.

Absurdism is a variant of existentialism which basically that one should accept and resign oneself to a meaningless, chaotic and absurd universe and still live one's life. It's about the gap between the human's search for meaning and the silent indifference of the universe. Rather than despair of that gap, but rather still choose to do one's thing in defiance of it.

Existentialism is also about the problem of a meaningless universe without structure or universal morality. It says that the individual is responsible for their own purpose and self-direction in life and they must embrace the freedom this lack of divine order or cosmic moral rules entails. Existentialism says you must create your own meaning and use the meaningless world as your blank canvas for your own meaning. Existentialism has its roots in Nietzsche's writings about how to respond to the death of god and a collapse in values due to the corrosive effects of modernity.

The only reason absurdism and existentialism are catalogued seperately is because Camus didn't want to be associated with Satre.
