Not the other guy but I've read all of Houellebecq's work and it's become clear to me now that his books are very vivid descriptions of what life is like after the death of God. The disappearance of the institution of marriage is what bred this free-market sexual hierarchy in the first place. I'm not saying he is "implying". He states this explicitly in Elementary Particles for instance. Platform, Possibility of an Island, all the others too, describe this deep despair in a world that has become spiritually void
