Please tell me your feelings about this, and how you will deal with it (if neccesary). Oh yeah, and you can't reread fantasy books off your shelf, either.

Me? Lulz. I only read 2 or 3 fantasy novels a year, out of 50. I'm sleeping fine tonight, just fine.

>> No.1934671

I dread your threads.

Each one is goddamn awful.

>> No.1934672

Are you suicidal over no more fantasy, Anon?

>> No.1934683

Magical realism counts as fantasy, Sunhawk.

>> No.1934689

>>1934683

Except it doesn't. Anyway, I'm pretty gouged on magical realism as the moment, so I could go a year. I would just nourish my literary hunger on postmodernism and bildungsromans (I haven't read any in a while, really, actually).

lol i'm about to fucking say

isabel allende is probably reading this right now - like all members of the american academy of arts and letters, she regularly visits 4chan to write and read pokemon fanfic - and going "jesus christ this kid is such a fucking retard"

mfw 2 or 3 fantasy novels is 2 or 3 more than I have/will read in my entire life

> never read fantasy novels
oh, hope you know what you're talking about then

>> No.1934709

Oh, look. Sunhawk's trying to be relevant on a board that neither likes nor respects him, again.

>> No.1934714

>>1934696

But then you'll miss out on important parts of the canon.

>> No.1934718

Considering the last time I read fantasy was about six years ago when I was 14 I am not too worried.

At the same time, if someone wants to read fantasy then so be it. Doesn't bother me.

>> No.1934720

What's with all the agro? I was simply asking how people would react, since (like many msg boards) /lit/ is heavily into fantasy. I don't see how it's an unreasonable question. I know people who ONLY read fantasy, like...well, you know the books and series.

>> No.1934749

Fuck off I actually like sunhawk. I know that everyone will think this is him samefagging because most of you seem to hate him even though I've never seen him do anything all that bad.

Sunhawk, I respect you and I hope you stay despite people being douchebags. I'll always be here to stand up for ya.

>> No.1934758

>>1934749

Thank you. TBH, I didn't know I was hated on this board. I thought I was considered more or less decent. Too much Allende and Atwood (lol), but decent.

I like Sunhawk. Sure he's an immature tripfag, but he's better than 90% of the shitposting tripfucks.

>> No.1934764

>>1934668
I wouldn't be that bothered. The fantasy I read is Magical realism, and tha doesn't even come under the fantasy grouping so fuck it.

>> No.1934768

Wouldn't really affect me. I'll reread LoTR every few years, but other than that, I haven't read any fantasy in over a decade. 'cause let's face it: almost all fantasy is shit.

>> No.1934772

Can't do it. ADWD out, new Aspect-Emperor book out, have yet to read The First Law trilogy and The Kingkiller Chronicle

>> No.1934773

I haven't read any fantasy this year, though I have read 6 science fiction (out of 68 books). I don't think it would affect me very much.

>> No.1934780

Does Pratchett's Discworld novels count? Sure, it's a fantasy setting, but it's not exactly swords'n'sorcery bullshit.

>> No.1934787

>>1934780

That's like asking if Harry Potter counts.

Of course it does.

"do things I like count?"
