How old are you? If it's not to late you might want to switch to the humanities or sociology/psychology for something a bit more your speed; or better yet, just give up academics altogether and start a family (I'm sure someone will be able to look past your looks) :)

No, it's cool, I'm black. I could not show up all semester and fail every test and they'd still be terrified to deny me a degree, lol.

I unironically think about what it would be like to be married to Kat while I'm falling asleep. I've been single for so long at this point that I'm starting to develop a parasocial relationship with her. The worst part is that this actually makes me happy and helps me sleep. She's just too cute.

I do this too, not with Kat though; imaginary relationships are surprisingly easy to get lost in, even though they aren't real they do make you feel better

It might be, lol. Its weird how after awhile you don't even care if its real or not; it makes you feel better, you know its not real (you're not confusing your own imagination with reality or anything; you fully understand what is real, and what is not), and you're not hurting anybody, so what's the problem.
The only thing I've wondered about is: how much does it affect how you react to the person in question? Say you've spent a significant amount of time imagining a relationship with somebody, it changes your perception of that person, right? What if you meet them (or some other thing happens where you're forced to confront the fact that everything you've imagined does not exist, a harsh snap back to reality)? How would you react? I think about this a lot; what emotional/mental harm am I doing to myself by getting invested/being comforted by something that does not exist and will never exist?

I've only ever done this with Kat, so I can't say. I can imagine it would be a negative experience to realize how different the object of your idealization is. Major cognitive dissonance.
>I think about this a lot; what emotional/mental harm am I doing to myself by getting invested/being comforted by something that does not exist and will never exist?
None that I can tell. This is what waifus are about, no? In an era of hyper-lonliness and isolation, it's natural for us to seek refuge in idealized partners. This dreamed wife provides comfort, almost like an imaginary friend. I'm not saying it's "better" than being in a real relationship (though real relationships can never live up to idealized relationships), but if it helps you sleep and feel better about being alive then I can't see how harmful it could be. Just don't get lost in it.
