Any tips on how to get more into reading? I have a decent selection of books and I live maybe 15 min away from a bookstore but I just cant make myself sit down and read a book, even for an hour. The most I read last week was 30 pages total and nothing this week :(

Just go to the library and read. It might be your surroundings. You need to disconnect.

Why an hour? If you read less than an hour is it not "reading" ?
This is not a competition, read as long as you want to. It's 10 minutes? Fine. It's 30 minutes? Fine. It's an whole afternoon? Fine.

star slow, like this anon said >>19305231. 10 - 20min, it dosent matter, as long as you read.

Other than that, find something you really like. It's no problem to not finish a book.

In the beggining you will have to train your mind to keep the pace, after that is just gold.

another thing that might help is to look up people who interest you and see what their favorite books are. for example if you have any favorite musicians try and find out if they have a reading list or any books that inspired them

This is an interesting advice, but there's no guarantee that people you like will like your same books. Montale wrote a nice short poem in which he mentions "I was reading the Deuteroisaiah..."

My crush had a pet rat btw

>STEP 1: Get off for 4Chan and grab the book nearest you.

>STEP 2: Fucking Read it.

Adderall or Ritalin might come handy.

Your utter lack of willpower honestly disgustes me. I don't think you want to get into literature. I think you want to build this self-image of a man who enjoys reading and will take out a book whenever he gets a chance to do so, just like on this little, idyllic scene you posted. Stop trying to overcompensate for your boring personality, by picking up hobbies you don't care about.

If you want to force yourself into becoming comfortable with literature, then get into uni, to a field of study that requires you to read a lot, while simultaneously understanding and processing the text.
