After having read the prequel trilogy some years ago and enjoyed them, I decided to take a stab at the original trilogy about Drizzt Do'urden, by R.A Salvatore. Only a few chapters in, however, I got sick of pretty much every single thing being a blatant ripoff of The Lord Of The Rings. Thusly, I ask /lit/ for recommendations on fantasy books that aren't garbage plagiarisms.

The Book of The New Sun
Gormenghast Trilogy

Can't recommend these two enough.

Those two sound pretty interesting, especially the new sun thing. Not sure I'm particularly excited about the prospects of the setting of Gormenghast, what the hell are they about? The wiki article makes the setting sound like an almost empty castle with a few peasants living in the swamp next to it, and everyone's just dedicated to pointless rituals. I may lack imagination but what could possibly take place there over the course of three full books?
