No, but Seraphim is right that nihilism is a misnomer, and that it arises practically as a rebellion against society and society's beliefs. Once you have rejected everything that society gives you to help you to make sense of the world and yourself, then you are a rebel without a cause or principles. And of course this is quite Satanic, since it is prideful to an unreasonable degree to think that you have all the answers inherent in yourself.

But the idea that nihilism arose from the renaissance, is a bit silly; it is an Ortho/Catholic parody of an era that shaped the formation of Protestantism, and they don't like it in retrospect even though they were really on the bandwagon at the time. Renaissance Europe was intensely Catholic; but scholars started doing things that the Church could no longer understand or control. For instance, they started studying Hebrew in order to better understand the old testament, while Copernicus destroyed the cosmology of the Medieval world by showing that heliocentrism was the correct cosmological model. Then Luther posited that moral virtues and Christianity are really quite distinct, and this caused a rupture between Luther's Neo-Hussites and the Church.

In short, the renaissance was a good era, filled with people who truly cared about our salvation and the state of our knowledge of the cosmos. To say that it was Satanic pride to seek knowledge, or that Aquinas was evil for making the Western Church receptive to new insights, is just showing that Seraphim Rose himself is a nihilist; a man who did not believe in truth.

So this is really post-ironic literature.

Start with the New Testament, in order, then the OT, in order.
The OSB is good but a lot of people prefer the EOB for the NT. Other good translations that aren't Orthodox include NASB, NRSV, NKJV, ESV and KJV.
