Lit I was wondering, which Science fiction writers are

worth reading if your not obsessed with science fiction ?

>> No.1929356

Stanislaw Lem
Arkady and Boris Strugatsky

>> No.1929361

Asimov. I don't even like science fiction but I loved I, Robot.

And yes, I have a copy with fucking Will Smith on the cover. Sue me.

>> No.1929363

Bulgakov, Bradbury but only some short stories,

>> No.1929366

Matheson

>> No.1929367

What are you hoping to get out of it?

Heinlein, Sprague de Camp, Leiber, Clarke, Asimov, Bester, Bradbury, Herbert are all excellent places to start.

Kurt Vonnegut

Wow. I haven't read anything in this thread that I disagree with.

Everybody in the thread is right, OP! You can trust us.

I would additionally suggest (if you can find a copy, it's quite scarce) reading "Venus on the Half Shell" by Kilgore Trout.

(Trout orig. published it in some beaver magazine under the pseudonym of Phil Farmer, although I doubt you'd be able to find a copy of that edition---it's a collectors' item)

My not obsessed with science fiction actually likes science fiction for fuck's sake. I'm taking the fucking broken piece of cunt back to the shop.

In the meantime, I'm going to torture the little shitstain with Ratner's Star by Don DeLillo. It's like sci-fi, but it will break the little fuck-knuckle's primitive brain-subtrate.

Mohhahahahahahahah

>> No.1930059

Let's see. Gene Wolfe, definitely - fucking outstanding writer. M John Harrison and Iain M Banks are both really good. Of course the New Wave is always worth checking into - Ellison, Brunner, Zelazny, Tom Disch, Sam Delany. I've always had a hard-on for Sturgeon and Bester, they are good. Ummm those should be some pretty good starting points I think.

>> No.1930062

Oh also Brian Aldiss, and cyberpunk (original cyberpunk before it became Nerd Fantasy Camp)

>> No.1930171

Shut your fucking shitstain excuse for a mouth. Your opinions actually reduce the value of human life.

You fucking repulse me, you are like a smear of excrement under my nose, and I would be rid of you rather than I would cure AIDS.

Because if I cured AIDS, it may extend your wretched life, and I may be forced to more of this. So to summarise, why don't you fuck off and die. Of AIDS.

>> No.1930183

Well, you posted PKD, so that's a good start.

There's some good recommendations in this thread, especially Vonnegut, Clarke, Asimov, Bradbury, and Ballard.

Captcha: Electro Tivion
It sounds science fiction-y.

Why would you put shit under your nose? Gross dawg

>> No.1932202

Margaret Atwood

Ursula LeGuin

Sherri Tepper

C.J. Cherryh

Elizabeth Moon

James Tiptree, Jr.

These are the writers that will teach you everything you will ever need to know, in a thoughtful, accessible, science fiction form.

Matheson and Bradbury are fucking pigs - avoid.

>> No.1932206

Asimov and Heinlein are only cool if you're an antisocial and 14, fyi.
