Seconding the question.
I want to make Bible and theology notes but I don't know how to start
How did traditionalist monks do it?

hm, I’ve been considering doing digital instead to safe space, but I’m hung up on the fact I’ll probably retain more by writing; then again I’m writing notes to retain more anyway

is it wise to only take notes on your second read? i feel like books that operate as a big picture are better understood with an already established understanding

>> No.19263864

I don't. I prefer the Chadly method of hunting through a dozen different notebooks every time I need to look at a note for a book I read two years beforehand.

no, you are just wasting your time. it is best to paraphrase paragraphs; i would take about 6 minutes per page in my bio textbooks and had a 3.9 reading everything once and studying only the night before, even for finals. if you try hard the first time and learn the material, you don't have to do it twice

Put sticky notes on the pages in the book you would like to come back to. You can go over them after you're done reading and take notes on those parts.
