Why are so many people reading this book right now?

Also, it has piqued my interest, but I'm broke. Anyone have a pdf link?

Thanks. You wrote sage in the wrong field, btw.

And I'm still wondering why so many people are reading this right now. I assumed it was a posthumous release, but now I realize it's been out for a decade and a half.

i know i did, i would never sage an on-topic thread

we're reading it because it's one of those very large books that take so much time and effort to read that many people put it off, reading it in a group like this helps i think, knowing that you can discuss anything you don't fully understand with other people who are reading it at the same pace as you is good etc

Sure, I get that, and it's an awesome idea. But I'm asking because this doesn't seemed confined to /lit/. There seem to be tons of people reading the book right now, all over the place.

Does the summer of 2011 have some import in the novel?

No there isn't, you fucking liar. Once again, BB promises to deliver and proves to be a complete fucking blowhard.

Where's the Tao Lin book, you lying fucking tard? Same folder as the IJ .mobi?

I can't believe anyone pays this retarded fuck any attention anymore, especially in this new emo phase. I'd say it were a joke, but it's not in the least amusing.

tl;dr What a cunt

Dude, why are you giving the tripfag so much attention? The thoroughness of your post makes me feel like you're just Brownbear making himself feel more important than he actually is.

Anyway, I don't give a fuck about this board's internal drama. Can someone please direct me to an e-book copy of Infinite Jest?

Because Mark Oshiro is reading it.

Now you saged in the correct field. Thanks for the link. Could have posted that to begin with.

It actually does take place mostly in April 2011 (or 2009 --there's some dispute about this). I think that's sort of unrelated though and more related to him having kicked it recently and people having written so much about him since. People also read in the summer, like what else is there to do?

Where else have you seen people reading Infinite Jest?

(I haven't left my apartment for two years so stories of the outside world intrigue me)

>> No.1926498

>>1926483
lol. I'm not OP and I live in a big city and haven't seen another person with IJ for at least two years. I'm sure plenty of people are reading it, but nobody is dragging that shit onto the subway.

I'm the guy who called you a liar, not that other cunt.

And I didn't want to check the sticky, or download the book because I read it years ago and it was (and is) a load of middle-class bollocks masquerading as an important novel. And middle-class bollocks like you will continue reading it.

Infinite Jest is one of the most over-rated novels of the last fifty years, and DF Walrus is one of the worst writers I've ever read outside of fanfic.

Reddit's /r/books has been crawling with comments about "for those reading Infinite Jest this summer"; my local library has an Infinite Jest reading groups going on right now; several bookstores I've visited recently have had an "Infinite Jest, summer of '11 sale"; my alma mater has several posters up advertising an "Infinite Jest reading group".

So where's the Tao Lin book, you lying sack of pus? You're so full of shit it's amazing that you can eat.

>> No.1927981

this fucking book. im ALMOST 400 pages in. ALMOST...

>> No.1927988

to op: recently one of dfw's unfinished books got published posthumously. It's basically a media assault by dfw's publishers.

>> No.1928032

IJ is terrible. why not have a gravity's rainbow reading group instead?

>> No.1928055

I dunno, OP. It might be due to his suicide, and the recent publication of his posthumous novel. If you yourself are curious, I'd say just read the (amazing) short story, "Good Old Neon."

It's a compressed Infinite Jest.

I found one on Avax

http://avaxhome.ws/ebooks/novels/InfiniteJestbyDavidFosterWallace.html#?=

the depositfiles link looks live

However, it might have really shitty OCR or something for all I know.
