Yes it would. It'd have to.

The individual doesn't exist in corporatist states like America either, except when they are part of a rich elite. Both systems have technocrats, and that is part of the problem.

just to shut up the non-literature whiners, I'd like to mention that the history of the USSR plays out exactly like Hamlet. Stalin is Hamlet.

>> No.1923560

People will homogenize themselves. In all societies there has been a cultural mainstream for the majority and fringe beliefs/interests or counter culture for minorities.
Maybe right after a revolution people would force themselves to not adhere to any trend or fashion due to feelings of postrevolution triumph over overthrowing the existing order of trends and fashions. After that, people would find new ones to follow according to the ideals of the new society, and most would follow.
What's funny is that capitalism allows you to feel like an individual while you belong to some hip trend. So, yeah, capitalism is probably the best model for allowing you to feel like you're very individual, and revolutionary, and anti-establishment without actually having to experience the harshness of being persecuted for being so (where people are halfheartedly persecuted for their trend today, it is often the case that persecution is a part of their trend and makes it feel more legitimate).
If you're worried about being an individual then chances are it's just a tendency towards some trend that merely represents individualism.
Worrying about oppression is more legitimate.
