Any good books on how to get out of extreme despair?
I have pretty much not felt any deep joy for at least a decade. I dont feel any joy in social interactions anymore, and i cannot engage in anything romantic either, because i feel it will just eventually fall apart, and a partner is just an extra worry. I once wanted children, but now i just feel like any child is just an extra bundle of extra worries and anxieties, as well as bringing an extra person into a life of worry and suffering. It just feels that anything or anyone i would invest time and effort in will eventually just fall apart anyway, and this falling apart will just cause sorrow.
I feel like even if God were to come down and say he's real and grant me unlimited wishes to do whatever i wanted to, i'd still be unhappy, it would still all just be pointless.

I'd accept any books that could help. Already tried several religious books (really, just the Quran and Bible, and i found neither to be really impressive or helpful).

The Nag Hammadi library. The Gnostics are the only thing that speak to me anymore. The fear and pain in that elephant's eyes do it.

Tony Robbins, Cannery Row, Epicurus, Candide, Tao Te Ching, Chuang Tzu.

Honest to God I don't think reading is what gives people happiness. It is mimetic of living and therefore cannot compare to real world experiences.

Maybe better than a book is if I performed a line of questioning on you. If the execution of Tyke gives you sorrow I believe there is great hope and love I can give to you today.

I'm in the same place, anon. Also open to recommendations.

I hope you feel better.

Anon I'm guessing you're a man. Look into books that tackle these problems from a masculine perspective (King, Warrior, Magician, Lover; Fight Club; Undying Glory).

As bookish men we are mostly disconnected from our primal way of being. Books that help get in touch with that can go a long way in solving psychological and existential issues.

Hope this helps.

It's so simple. I think Mate himself is amazed that it is this simple, but it's true.

I love this video too. The truth is inside of us, and it cannot be denied. We cannot be denied.

So basically you are coming closer and closer to enlightenment, and you're asking for help to "cure" your condition? Get a grip, dude.

Sex actually doesnt help. I had sex twice but i just felt like i was an animal, slapping two slabs of meat into one another. Youre just busy for a short while and then it's over, and i feel like a drug addict chasing a high after its done. Then the post-nut clarity just makes the despair far, far worse.

This is why I don't take people seriously when they laugh at me for having an elephant gun. Those fuckers will attack you given the chance.

She only attacked because she was abused for years and finally snapped at her coke-addicted abuser.
Tyke really is a profound case. She has to do things she doesnt understand or else she gets beaten, and when she finally just lashes out against her absurd existence, she gets shot to death.

Yes, and? Elephants you encounter in the developed world are captive, probably abused, and ready to snap. Elephants in nature are aggressive and protective of their herd. They're dangerous.
