No special magic or technique is necessary. If you learn to control your mind well enough you will be able to do something like this; it just takes time.

Obviously special technique to learn to control the body with the mind is involved. As well as physical mastery. Jackass.

Once you accept pain it ceases being much of an issue, it is mostly the idea that it could be stopped that causes the issues.

Let's go back to the previous point
>One thing people somehow forget to mention is that this self-immolation was caused by chr*stian oppression of buddhist people in """south viet nam"""

Discuss why picrel is always paired with "Yeah, China is a brutal dictatorship, this happened on the 5th of June 1989 during pro-democracy protests, we should forever be grateful to all the heroes who fell victims of communist brutality", while for Thích Quảng Đức it's just "Damn bro that some crazy ass nigga shit right there like totally caught up in flames rn"

>this happened on the 5th of June 1989 during pro-democracy protests
I though that it was a general anti-government protests, which included lots of groups pissed with the CPC at the time, from democrats to literal maoists.

It’s about removing emotion and interpretation from physical sensations. You have to realise that physical sensations are, at their course, neutral. And he negativity and pain that arises is an interpretation you assign to the sensation.
It takes a lot of practice, to get to the level of burning yourself alive and just being able to chill there, but it’s a good skill to have even at much lower levels.

Ken Wilber mentions something about this in his buddha at the gas pump interview on youtube, watch that.

Beyond that, I know meditation teacher Shinzen young says it's possible to detach the body and mind to the point where you don't care if you experience the most brutal torture possible. I don't know where he's written about how it's done though, he has talked about techniques like strong determination sitting and made products on controlling emotions. He also mentioned in a guru viking interview how he met someone who mastered extreme pain. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xVUtUguRc5s

Why would I discuss that? You brought it up just to vent about Christians, you don't actually care to share this bit of knowledge or to inform people, if that was your motive you would have offer more than "Christians bad!" Same old and tired ideological pissing contest. You think you are a good person because you do this shit, but what do you actually accomplish? Nothing. You are not going to change the world by flexing on 4chan, nor are you going to do it by trying to prove some group to be evil, if you want to change the world than get the fuck off the internet and actually do something to make things better. Christians are not the problem, nor are Muslims or Jews, it is people like you who pretend to be good by passing judgement so you can lie to yourself about being good, exact same bullshit as the tradcath larpers.

Ever since I was young I've felt hemmed in by these barriers - extreme pain, discomfort, the possibility of torture. I've actually placed my hand on a burning stove a few times to kind of push through these barriers, but yeah it fucking kills.

I have also suffered extreme pain from time to time, from sciatica to kidney stones, and I would like to master these sensations.

Thanks for the video and all who replied. This is the kind of stuff I'm talking about.
