I'm thinking of reading Harry Potter at age 25. I've never read it but have watched the movies of course.

Got a bit burned out of classics as I read a ton of them this year on top of very dense history books.
Feel like the wizarding books might be a good in-between read as I read one in between other books etc.

Anybody who has recently reread them and thinks it's still worth it? Or should I just read some other more chill/relaxing books?

Is this bait?
No, don't read it. Just play videogames or go outside if you need a break. Or better yet, write something.
You are 25 years old. Your life is already too short to be wasting time with this garbage.

I already do a lot of sports and shit and work. I enjoy reading with the bit of time I have left aside from that.
Recommend me something instead

I don't know any magician books.
Read Italo Calvino if you want a good time. Or Chekov.

I read half the first Harry Potter book in a single sitting. I never came back to it because I realized it was almost identical to the beats of the movie. Although the opening with Vernon is actually quite endearing. You could probably read the first book very quickly and see for yourself if its worth continuing. The books are very readable.

Yeah I'll do that. I find the notion that you shouldn't read popular or children's books as an adult to be pretty pretentious.

Who cares as long as you're not a retard YA only reader

This. Follow your heart. If you want a break from reading heavy shit, read some light shit. Most of the dipshits on this board don't even read, so who cares what they think?

you missed out the subplot where Draco gets turned into a girl due to a badly prepared potion and actually starts falling for Harry? It explains why he protected Harry when he got captured in book 7.

Maybe the guy just wants advice before spending time on books he might not enjoy, it's not insecure to ask for advice.

I already liked HP and re-reading it incidentally at 25, two years ago, gave me a new appreciation of them, but if you didn't read it as a kid I can't honestly recommend it.

wat,wait...WAIT. if you haven't read them yet, you have got to read pic related first.

also, way too much was cut from the first four movies that the books have a different feel to them.
