What are some decent stand alone grim dark fantasy novels? Don’t care much for magic but I would like read about some bloody battles and maybe a rape scene here or there. I just don’t want to read 3-5 books to get to the end. I’m cool with some soft scifi too.

The Prince of nothing series. It’s a trilogy but it’s the only thing I can think of. He came out with a couple but the first three are really self contained. Honestly even outside of grim dark I can’t think of any stand alone fantasy novels.

Actually I just thought of one. The King of Elfland's Daughter. But it’s very tolkien esque. Actually I think Tolkien was inspired by Dunsany
