Happened to me with Monte Cristo. I'm pretty sure I read an abridged version. But then I read the complete version and it didn't feel like I covered anything new.

in my case my Les Mis edition was 1000 pages when the complete one is 2000...

i got fucking screwed.they should say shit like that when its a fucking abridged version,

I started reading a longer version, but kind of gave up when I noticed that one was actually abridged as well.
