After philosophy, which of the following humanities should I start?.

What is the broadest branch that encompasses all the others?.

I know they are all intertwined, but I have to choose one over all of these.

Is there a hierarchy between them?.

=

Classics

History

Language

Literature

Religion

Art

Disciplines can’t encompass each other.

History does teach you how to murder colleagues though. Just saying. Get in the fucking pit or I’ll rape you before I shoot you.

I want this but in Humanities:
Mathematics > Physics > Chemistry > Biology > Psychology > Sociology

>History does teach you how to murder colleagues though. Just saying.
So, Philosophy > History > The various humanities?.

I'm making a project that's why I'm asking. I'm downloading books from every single branch and making a reading list in chronological order, author by author, discipline by discipline. It's something like the western canon.

All these fields must be studied to form a general understanding. But master one, and you may be lacking in the others. Mastering even two or three in sequential order might take a lifetime, few are able to accomplish even that. But to study all 7 at once, through the use of proper methods and certain means, would be the most beneficial--it is, in fact, the only true way. You might see that, when you study language, you actually study philosophy, and when you study philosophy you actually study religion, and when you study religion you actually study history, and when you study history you actually study classics, and when you study classics you actually study literature, and when you study literature you actually study art. And if you allow yourself to study in such a manner so that the object of mastery is always fleeing from one subject to the next, so it feels like you'll never catch it: then, you will begin to master all, and you will begin to see why it is only through mastery of none that one conquers all.

Thanks for the advice, I don't care if it takes me a lifetime.

Humanities are more of a web than a pyramid. I think it's fair to say that philosophy is the nucleus, since you can build a philosophical framework/foundation for how to think about other fields. But history, literature, language, religion all feedback on one another.

Another way to think of it is that if our knowledge of chemistry completely vanished, we'd have a lot of difficulty making progress in biology. However, if we lost religion completely, that wouldn't prevent people from creating good literature - stories would just accordingly be inspired more by history than mythos.

The last item of your list encompasses everything before it (all the philosophy, history, language and literature worthy of study that is)

It's true that Classics is where you start, and then you work your way up in chronological order, reading all the major authors in their original language and so on until modern day.

But first you need to understand at least the language, a basic understanding of logic, the historical context, their books, their religion, etc. That's why I make that list like that, actually, I'm OP and I post that list to see opinions.

Make a list please.

You should have learned languages before even starting, and you should read literature and enjoy art while studying philosophy, not after it. It goes like this:
Philosophy > Religion > Psychology (Jungian) > Sociology (German 19th century; people like Weber and Simmel) > Political Theory

>> No.19175495

>>19174156
Not him but
>Psychology (Jungian)
>Jungian
Why?

> Sociology (German 19th century; people like Weber and Simmel)
Again, why?

>Political Theory
What?
